Traditional Hardtack and Improved Hard Tack

I remember eating hard tack when I was a kid hiking with my uncle. It was not something that I really enjoyed. But I do think it has its place in emergency and survival situations, its loaded with calories and gives great energy. David Sarti dose a great job in showing how to make this stuff, and even gives a version an up dated version.

I decided I would try to improve the original recipe by adding a egg yoke for more fat calories and vitamin c
(after further study, I realized adding the egg will cause a hard tack to spoil much quicker. Therefore adding egg is not recommended. Perhaps a little bit of soybean meal would be better.after further study, I realized adding the egg will cause a hard tack to spoil much quicker. Therefore adding egg is not recommended.
