Provide Burn Pain Relief With These Home Grown Remedies

Mint-Toothpaste

Toothpaste

Many varieties of toothpaste have reportedly helped to relieve pain while also speeding up the healing process. Mint toothpaste seems to work the best. Simply apply a generous amount of toothpaste to the affected area as you would with ointment. Gently rub it around the burn and allow it to harden. Pain should diminish as the compounds in the toothpaste begin to penetrate the skin. Some suggest that using toothpaste for sensitive teeth has some anesthetic properties that can dull nerve pain and provide temporary relief as well.

Run the affected area under water to wash away the dried toothpaste and keep repeating applications until the pain completely subsides.

Vanilla Extract

Vanilla contains substances that are very good for the skin, and the extract provides an additional benefit. Dab some vanilla extract onto a cotton ball or tissue and apply to the affected area. The vanilla will soak into the skin while the alcohol evaporates into the ambient air. The skin will cool during the evaporation process, and this can help to reduce pain while the vanilla reduces irritation.

Vinegar

Vinegar

Vinegar is an all-in-one remedy that not only reduces pain, but also inhibits the growth of certain bacteria in addition to promoting skin and tissue healing. Wet a paper towel or some cotton with vinegar and dab directly on the burn. Allow the vinegar to work through the skin before removing the towel or cotton ball. You can also dilute the vinegar with about 25% water and use a piece of fabric to soak up the liquid. Wrap the fabric around the affected area and let it remain there for an hour.

In both cases, the vinegar will help to reduce inflammation and pain from the burn while also drawing heat away from the skin. This will speed up the healing process while also reducing pain as the heat leaves the burn site at an accelerated rate.

Oatmeal Soak

Take some oats, grind them up into a powder if possible and pour them into a bath or basin. Add a good sprinkle of baking soda into the water and mix until it dissolves. Place the affected area in the water and allow it to soak for about 30 minutes. The oatmeal and baking soda will help to reduce inflammation and pain while also reducing itching and irritation. Remove from the bath and allow the affected area to air dry. Gently brush off the oats but leave the powdery residue over the burn to provide extended relief.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is loaded with nutrients that not only help to ease pain but to promote healing. Simply apply an even amount of oil to the affected area. Coconut oil contains an abundance of vitamin E as well as numerous fatty acids and other ingredients that are known to be good for skin health. The oil also contains acids that kill bacteria and fungi. You can enhance the effectiveness of using coconut oil by adding or squeezing some lemon juice and mixing before applying to the affected area. The lemon juice will serve as a mild anesthetic while also interacting with the skin in ways that can minimize scarring.

Honey-can-help-wound-healing

Honey

Real honey from bees has been and still is a very popular remedy for treating minor burns. Honey helps to expel heat from the burn and cool the skin and tissue. It also contains numerous items that promote skin health, kill bacteria and reduce inflammation. Apply honey directly to the burn and gently rub it around the affected area. Rinse after an hour or two and repeat the process until the pain has subsided.

Keep in mind that these remedies are topical in nature and are not intended to be used to treat severe burns. However, they can be used to provide significant pain relief in minor cases. People may react to different remedies in different ways, and you may need to apply and evaluate a few different treatments until you find the one that provides the greatest amount of relief.
