Baking Soda is a great item to carry with you when camping or bushcrafting. Its cheap, a little goes a long way and the multiple uses of baking soda make it worth the extra couple of ounces. Great item to add to food storage preps. Thank you for watching and I hope to see you in the woods.

1. Clean fruits and vegetables. Sprinkle some baking soda on a sponge, wipe fruits and vegetables clean, and rinse them off.

2. Wash dishes, pots and pans. Adding a couple tablespoons of baking soda to your dishwater can help remove grease and food from your dishes. If the food is cooked on, let it soak first then use some dry baking soda on a cloth to scrub it away.

3. Clean your oven. Sprinkle baking soda in your oven and spray with water, then let it sit overnight. The next day, scrub the oven and scoop out the baking soda.

4. Clean tubs, tiles, and sinks. Pour some baking soda on a damp cloth or sponge and scrub away. Rinse and dry. You’ll be surprised how well this works.

5. Mop floors. Just add a half cup of baking soda to a bucket of warm water and mop away. You might still need a cloth or sponge to get up scuff marks.

6. Clean grease and oil stains. Pour baking soda on the spot and scrub it with a wet brush.

7. Clean walls and furniture. Any painted surface can be cleaned with some baking soda on a damp cloth or sponge. Rub lightly and dry with a clean cloth.

8. Clean your car. A half cup of baking soda in a half gallon of warm water is the perfect solution for cleaning tires, windows, floor mats and vinyl seats.

9. Keep your refrigerator smelling good. This is the most common usage. Just place an open box in the door. Bad smells are neutralized.

10. Deodorize sinks and trash cans. For the sink, pour half a cup of baking soda down the drain while running warm water. For the trash, sprinkle some on the bottom of your trash can and in your trash occasionally.

11. Clean Battery Terminals. Baking soda can be used to neutralize battery acid corrosion on cars, farm equipment, etc. because its a mild alkali. Make a paste of 3 parts baking soda to 1 part water, apply with a damp cloth to scrub corrosion from the battery terminal (be sure to disconnect the battery first). After cleaning and re-connecting the terminals, wipe them with petroleum jelly to prevent future corrosion.

12. Cold/Flu Prevention and Cure. Studies have shown that when taken internally, baking soda can help maintain the pH balance in your bloodstream. This is likely the basic premise behind its recommended uses against both colds and influenza symptoms. Recommended dosages from the Arm & Hammer Company for colds and influenza back in 1925 were:

Day 1 Take six doses of ½ teaspoon of baking soda in glass of cool water, at about two-hour intervals
Day 2 Take four doses of ½ teaspoon of baking soda in glass of cool water, at the same intervals
Day 3 Take two doses of ½ teaspoon of baking soda in glass of cool water morning and evening, and thereafter ½ teaspoon in glass of cool water each morning until cold symptoms are gone.

13. Keep clothes and shoes smelling fresh. Keep an open box of baking soda with your clothes and sprinkle some into your shoes when you’re not wearing them.

14. Deodorize yourself. A little baking soda patted onto your underarms can go a long way toward cutting down on body odor.

15. Brush your teeth, freshen your breath. Toothpaste can be made with baking soda and a 3 percent hydrogen peroxide solution. For fresh breath, put a teaspoon in some water, swish it in your mouth and spit it out.

16. Make soap. The formula is three parts baking soda to one part water. Rub it on your face and body, then rinse off.

17. Use it as an antacid. Baking soda is great for indigestion, heartburn and sour stomach. Add half a teaspoon to half a glass of water and drink it. Make sure the baking soda is completely dissolved before swallowing.

18. Rinse your hair. Add a little bit of baking soda to your shampoo then wash and rinse as usual. Baking soda helps remove residue from shampoo and styling products so your hair is cleaner.

19. Relieve itchy skin and insect bites. Mix water and baking soda into a paste and apply to the affected area.

20. Put out fires. If you don’t already have a fire extinguisher, then you should keep an open box of baking soda in every room. Baking soda works for normal fires, electrical fires and grease fires. Smother the base of the flame.

Many Many more

Baking soda is not only fantastic for your in-home storage but it’s a must-have for bugging out. It’s a dish washer, pot scrubber, hand cleanser, deodorant, toothpaste, fire extinguisher, medical aid and many other uses listed here.
