It is of the utmost importance for every individual to be prepared for any and all forms of disasters, albeit man-made or natural. In a wildfire type situation, one’s life can be changed in a moment, so why not be prepared for it?
There was a devastating wildfire in Featherville recently, a small town in central Idaho, which resulted in hundreds of residents being forced to pack their belongings and evacuate their homes. According to Jennifer Smith, of the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise, Idaho, “nearly 43,000 wildfires had been reported in the U.S. this season, burning a total of 6.4 million acres, or 10,000 square miles. The 10-year average for this period is 52,535 fires but covering only 5 million acres ” (The Associated Press).
In an event of an emergency, it’s important for everyone to have a survival kit, something they can just grab and go, without a second’s hesitation. Being evacuated from your home can be a traumatic experience not just physically but also emotionally, but being prepared for an evacuation can make a huge difference. Being prepared and having a survival kit can make a tremendous impact not just for you, but also for your loved ones. It determines whether or not you and your family have food to eat, clean water to drink, effective form(s) of shelter , and any other survival gear that can save one’s life.
“It’s not a question of it, but when” (Dave Olson, Boise National Forest spokesman).
Take the precautionary steps you can and order a survival kit today.
